NWS confirms EF-0 tornado caused damage in SE Cass County (IA)

(Johnston, IA) – Officials with the National Weather Service in central Iowa, today (Monday), confirmed that a tornado rated as an EF-0 (on the Fujita Scale), with peak winds of up to 85-mph occurred in Cass County, south of Cumberland, Friday evening, June 6th.

The survey/assessment team observed mostly tree and outbuilding damage occurred along the path. The tornado moved slowly eastward prior to turning northward for about 2.3-miles, before dissipating. It was about 25-yards wide. There were no injuries reported.

As shown in the graphic, the tornado formed at around 11:13-p.m. and lifted by around 11:18-p.m. Friday.
