Nishnabotna Valley Rural Electric Cooperative lineman Jeremiah Ruby recently completed a mission to help the people of Guatemala with electricity needs. The Harlan-based company was given the opportunity to send volunteers and Jeremiah was quick to offer his services.
When he first arrived, Jeremiah said he was a bit shocked at what was ahead.
He and the team were also without some of the equipment they use everyday back home.
Jeremiah says the locals didn’t just sit back and watch.
Some of the locals were getting electricity for the first time.
Jeremiah says he would love to go back with his wife to check on the difference his work has made. He also plans to keep in touch with some of his new friends from other states who volunteered for the project.
