Nishna Valley Trails and Cass County Conservation are partnering to host a Trail Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 12 from 10 AM to noon at the T-Bone Trail I80/71 Trailhead (64968 Boston Rd, Atlantic, IA 50022). At noon, the Atlantic Kiwanis will serve a free thank-you lunch to all participating volunteers. The public is invited and encouraged to participate in the volunteer event.
Nishna Valley Trails (NVT) and Cass County Conservation are hosting the trails cleanup day as part of the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance. The trails cleanup day is made possible through the Day of Service Training & Implementation Fund, which is coordinated by Volunteer Iowa and funded through AmeriCorps.
Trail cleanup will focus on cleaning trail surfaces, and trimming and removing brush. Participating volunteers are asked to wear long sleeves and long pants, and bring eye and hearing protection. While no tools are required, if available, volunteers are asked to bring loppers, pole saws, and leaf blowers.
Nishna Valley Trails is a tax-exempt local nonprofit that advocates for the development, construction, and promotion of multi-purpose recreational trails in Cass County and the surrounding areas, recognizing the health, well-being and economic benefits of trails.
