Josh Turek and his opponent Congresswoman Ashley Hinson are in a very close run for Iowa’s senate with both targeting each other over bills they have voted in favor for, Turek’s main focus point has been on Hinson’s time in the congress talking about how she made herself 15 times richer while in D.C.
Tariffs have impacted Iowa heavily causing many products that many Iowans use to go up in price. Manufacturing companies have been dealt a big blow to production because of imported metals having a 50% tariff on them. Due to these rising costs companies like John Deere have had to layoff workers.
The war in Iran and tariffs have put huge stress onto Iowa’s farmers with many farmers struggling to get their equipment topped off with fuel due to the cost of diesel. Fertilizer prices have been rising in costs for quite some time now and with harvesting season coming to an end farmers are even wondering if they can afford to make it into the next growing season.
Last year Iowa recorded 18 farm bankruptcies while that does not mean that the farm foreclosed it does show high levels of financial distress.
