Iowa lawmakers have set aside at least 10 million dollars to fund construction of a new Agricultural Education Center on the Iowa State Fairgrounds. It’s something Governor Kim Reynolds has pushed for after seeing “The Glass Barn” at the Indiana State Fair in 2015.
Reynolds says it’s for adults, too, and the facility will be used year-round to showcase Iowa agriculture.
Iowa is the number one in the nation for the production of pork, corn and eggs. No groundbreaking has been set yet for the new State Fair building, which will have displays on crop development, Iowa soils, farm equipment and jobs in agriculture. Construction is projected to cost 15 MILLION and it will be built near the Animal Learning Center. During the Fair, that facility has live animals, like sows and cows, that kids can watch having pigs and calves.
