In first 11 days of early voting, 71% of ballots cast in person

The latest data from the Iowa Secretary of State’s office indicates well over 265-thousand Iowans have already cast their ballots.

That tally was released at 8 a.m. this (Monday) morning and it covers the first 11 days of early voting in Iowa. Nearly 71 percent of the ballots were cast in person at a county auditor’s office or a satellite voting location. About 155-thousand Iowans requested an absentee ballot through the mail and by last Friday 43 percent of those ballots had been received by county auditros. Democrats have a lead in the early votes cast in Iowa’s first, second and third congressional districts, while Republicans lead in the 4th district where nearly half of all registered voters are Republicans.
