Hitchcock House Looking for Volunteers

The Reverend George B. Hitchcock House Advisory Board in Lewis is looking for volunteers to help ready the historic landmark for the winter.

That’s Board President Kyla Amos, who says people come from all over to visit the important Underground Railroad stop.

The attraction is closing September 13th for the winter and they have work that needs to be completed both inside and outside the house.

The project is part of the Volunteer Iowa National 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance. Amos says volunteers of all ages and skills are needed and they would like to get at least 50 people to join them.

The Day of Service will be on Sunday, September 20th from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm. Lunch will be provided for all volunteers. The Hitchcock House is located at 63788 567th Lane near Lewis.
