ATLANTIC, IA — Healthy Cass County invites community members, organizations, businesses, faith communities, and service providers to attend its upcoming community meeting on Monday, June 8, at noon at the Cass County Community Center, 805 W. 10th Street, Atlantic, Iowa.
The focus of the meeting will be “How Do We Redefine Senior Centers in Rural Iowa?” and how Cass County can align with the State of Iowa Priority Focus Area 2.2: Collaborate with a variety of partners to cross-promote existing programs and expand their reach.
While Cass County does not have an official senior center, the county is home to many places where older adults gather, build relationships, and stay connected. These locations include local libraries, restaurants, fitness centers, congregate meal sites, churches, community centers, and other community gathering spaces.
Healthy Cass County recognizes that meaningful social connections are essential to healthy aging and community well-being. Supporting older adults goes beyond a single building and includes strengthening the many spaces throughout Cass County where seniors already gather, learn, volunteer, exercise, share meals, and build relationships.
The June meeting will bring together organizations and businesses that host senior gatherings, as well as community members who regularly participate in these activities. Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences, identify community strengths, discuss gaps in services, and explore ways to work together to enhance opportunities for older adults throughout Cass County.
Healthy Cass County welcomes anyone interested in senior services, community engagement, healthy aging, and building stronger connections throughout the county. Whether your organization serves older adults, provides a gathering space, or you simply have ideas to share, your perspective is valued and encouraged.
