The current Congress gets one more swing to pass a new farm bill.
U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley tells Brownfield compromise will be necessary following the election.
“I hate to talk about compromising on getting fraud out of the food stamps (program), but there may be some sort of compromise we’ll have to do with the Democrats to get 60 votes to get the bill up.”
The Iowa Republican says time is short during the lame duck.
“We’ve got one full week and one week with two days in November, and then we’ve got three weeks in December. It’s not a lot of time between now and the end of this Congress.”
Grassley says passing nationwide year-round E15 legislation is a priority, either as a standalone bill or part of a new farm bill.
