Atlantic, Iowa – The Cass County Auditor’s Office reminds citizens that the deadline to pre-register to vote and to request an absentee ballot by mail for the November 3, 2026, General Election is Monday, October 19, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
Voter Pre-Registration
Voters who are not currently registered but wish to participate in the General Election are encouraged to complete their voter registration by the pre-registration deadline. Registering by the deadline can help avoid delays at the polls on Election Day. Voters who meet the pre-registration deadline will only be required to present ID at their polling place before receiving a ballot.
Eligible voters who miss the pre-registration deadline may still register to vote on Election Day. They will need to complete an Election Day Registration form and provide both proof of identification and proof of residence at their polling place.
Absentee Voting
Voters who wish to vote absentee by mail must submit a ballot request form to the County Auditor’s Office by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19th. Absentee ballot request forms are available through the Iowa Secretary of State’s website, https://sos.iowa.gov/voters/absentee-voting, or by contacting the County Auditor’s Office at 712-243-4570.
In-person absentee voting will be available at the County Auditor’s Office from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 14 through Monday, November 2. The office will remain open until 5:00 for in-person voting on Monday, October 19; Friday, October 30; and Saturday, October 31.
Polls in Cass County will be open on Tuesday, November 3, from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
