(Atlantic, IA) – Firefighters from Atlantic were dispatched to the scene of a garage fire late Wednesday night (May 27th) near 2nd and Linn Streets. The call went out at around 10:25-p.m.
Residents of the nearby home had safely evacuated as a precaution. Arriving Atlantic Police Officers advised they thought ammunition in the garage was being set-off, and that arriving firefighters keep a safe distance, but they were subsequently informed there were fireworks inside the garage that had ignited.
A resident of the home suffered burns to his fingertips, according to dispatch reports, and was treated by Cass EMS. Atlantic firefighters were returning to their quarters by around 1:15-a.m.
