(Anita, IA) – People who like to fish, or who would like to learn how to fish, are invited to take part in the Iowa DNR’s “Free Fishing Weekend,” that runs Friday through Sunday, June 5th-7th. Josh Peach, Lake Anita DNR State Park Manager, says the park’s crews have everything all set to go for your fishing and camping pleasure.
Peach says camp site reservations are available, if that’s your idea for a weekend getaway.
Making your camp site reservation ahead of time is always preferable, especially during the busy weekends, and you can look ahead on the DNR’s website to see what the sites look like. As far as the Free Fishing Weekend is concerned, Josh Peach says it’s very popular, and ONLY for Iowa residents.

All regular fishing regulations remain in-place.
This Saturday also marks the annual kid’s fishing day at Lake Anita State Park, sponsored Friends of Lake Anita State Park and the Iowa DNR.
The whole idea is for kids and their families to have fun at the Park. The Friends of Lake Anita will finish the day, Saturday, with a hot dog lunch featuring chips and water, for a free-will donation.
