FREE Concert to be Held This Weekend!

(Atlantic, IA) – The Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Atlantic High School Alumni Smackdown Committee and Atlantic Parks & Recreation, is reminding the community that the Community Concert will take place this Friday, August 14, at Sunnyside Park.

“We’re excited to have a great night of live music planned for the community, and we really want people to take advantage of it,” said Kelsey Beschorner, Executive Director of the Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce. “It’s completely free, everyone is welcome, and it’s a great opportunity to get together with friends and family, enjoy some music and food, and end the summer on a high note!”

The evening will feature live music beginning at 5:00 p.m. with Darla Hansen and Doug Hammer, followed by Dirt Road Divide from 7:00–10:00 p.m. on the Band Shell. Food vendors and a beer garden, organized by the Atlantic Fire Department, will also open at 5:00 p.m.

Beer tickets will be $5 each or five for $20 and can be purchased at the event with cash, check, or Venmo. IDs will be checked, and individuals of legal drinking age will receive a wristband to identify them at the beer tent. No outside alcohol is permitted.

Admission to the Community Concert is FREE and open to everyone of all ages. You do not have to be an Atlantic High School graduate to attend. Whether you’re coming to town for reunion weekend, have lived in Atlantic for years, or are new to the community, everyone is invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy an evening at Sunnyside Park.

The 12th Annual AHS Alumni Smackdown Tournament will take place Saturday morning, August 15, with more than 40 teams registered to play at Nishna Hills Golf Course and Atlantic Golf & Country Club.
