(Atlantic, IA) – Officials with the City of Atlantic have announced that as part of a City-wide cleanup effort, dumpsters will be made available at three sites in town next week, for those who want to get rid of unwanted items and household garbage.
Atlantic Mayor Rob Clausen said the dumpsters will be available June 22nd through the 26th, June 26 for residents to dispose of unwanted items and household garbage.One of dumpster will be located in the parking lot of 811 Sunnyside Lane (McDermott Roofing). The second location, in the center of town, will be in the parking lot at 601 Walnut Street (The courthouse annex/old grocery store location), and the third dumpster site will be former Pines Steakhouse/restaurant (1500 E. 7th St.).
Each location will have one dumpster for metal items to be recycled, and another dumpster for general garbage. There will be no curbside pickup, and each dumpster will be self-serve, meaning no city personnel will be on-hand to help you load your items into those dumpsters.
Items NOT ALLOWED include: Electronics, such as TV’s, stereos, etc.; No appliances (such as refrigerators, stoves, microwaves and dishwashers); No tires; No chemicals, such as paint, cleaning products, etc., and no yard waste. Yard waste is being accepted as usual, at the City’s compost site near the Schildberg Recreation Area.
When the dumpsters are full, the City will transport the collected material to the landfill and cover the disposal fees. The Mayor asks residents to be respectful of the properties, and not leave items outside of the dumpsters or trash on the grounds.
