Democrat Lindsay James Wins Iowa’s Second Congressional District Seat

Three Iowa Democrats flipped U-S House seats that had been held by Republicans.

In Iowa’s second congressional district, Democrat Lindsay James defeated Republican Joe Mitchell. James says a lot of people told her when she launched her campaign that they didn’t think a Democrat could win the seat.

Republican Ashley Hinson won the district two years ago by 15-and-a-half points. James will be one of three Democrats — all women — who will represent Iowa in the U-S House next year.

Democrats won control of the house with a 228-139 with democrats flipping 25 seats.
