(Council Bluffs, IA) – In Iowa last year, 148 crashes and five fatalities listed impairment as a contributing factor around the St. Patrick’s Day holiday.
Council Bluffs Police Sergeant J.P. Hughes says in the evening hours of March 17th, between 5PM and Midnight, officers with the Council Bluffs Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office, and Carter Lake Police Department conducted a traffic enforcement project within the City of Council Bluffs.
The project focused on impaired and otherwise dangerous driving behavior. The results were over 400 citations issued along with eight arrests.
Sgt. Hughes said there will be several more of these traffic safety initiatives conducted in the coming months.
