(Atlantic, IA) – The Cass County Board of Supervisors will meet in a regularly scheduled session Tuesday, in Atlantic, beginning at 9-a.m. in their Board Room at the Cass County Courthouse.
During the meeting, the Supervisors will act on the appointment of William Baylor as Cass County Veteran Affairs Director, effective June 8, 2026. If approved, Baylor will succeed Mitch Holmes, who is retiring from the position effective as of July 1, 2026. Baylor’s annual salary would be $43,680, an amount less than Holmes’ current annual salary.
The Board will also act on approving a Federal-Aid Agreement, with regard to a bridge replacement project over a creek on Jasper Road. And, they will act on approving the removal of Dr. Jill Pollpeter as Medical Examiner Deputy, and a contract with Cost Advisory Services, Inc. (CAS) for fiscal years 2026-2028, to develop cost allocation plans in order to obtain reimbursement for indirect costs expended on behalf of the Iowa Dept. of Health and Human Services.
In other business, the Cass County Supervisors are expected to receive a report from Cass County Secondary Roads Maintenance Superintendent Mark Knudsen, and Jotham Arber, Executive Director of the Cass/Guthrie County Environmental Health Dept. They’ll also act on passing a resolution authorizing the transfer of Camping Fees from the General Basic Fund to Conservation.

Following the regular meeting, a quorum of the Supervisors may be present for an event at the Atlantic CityPark, across the street from the courthouse. Leonard Kinney, with Atlantic’s American Legion Post #43, has invited members of the Board of Supervisors to visit the “Never Forget” bench honoring 9/11 First Responders. No deliberations among the board members, or action, will be taken.
