(Atlantic, IA) – The Cass County Board of Supervisors, Tuesday (today), agreed on a vote of 4-to-1, with Supervisor Richter opposed, the hiring of William “Bill” Baylor as the Cass County Veteran’s Affairs Director, part-time, effective June 9th, 2026.
Board Chair Steve Baier..
The Board discussed for about 30-minutes, options to pair-up with Audubon County to share costs and hours, but Baylor said he was not interested in working for both counties at this time.

Supervisor Wendy Richter said the only reason they were discussing the option of sharing, is to show the Supervisors are not immune from working to tighten the County’s fiscal belt.
Baylor will succeed Mitch Holmes, who as we’ve mentioned, is retiring July 1st after 15-years of service to the County.
In other business, the Board received a regular report from Cass County Engineer Trent Wolken.
