Cass County Supervisors approve filling Jailer vacancy position, resolutions & extra help compensation

(Atlantic, IA) – The Cass County Board of Supervisors held a Special Meeting in Atlantic this (Tuesday) morning, to take care of some leftover administrative matters. Following a public comment period, the Board discussed a request to fill a full-time Jailer, vacancy position. Cass County Chief Deputy Sheriff Spencer Walton said the vacancy is the result of a resignation.

The amount of time it will take to get the person selected up-to-speed on the job responsibilities, Walton said, will depend on whether they are already certified or will need certification. If they need training, it will probably be three-to-four months before they are on their own, taking care of inmate needs and the booking process.

Following discussion, the Supervisors authorized Walton to move forward with the hiring of a person to fill the position as he described.
