Cass County Community Invited to Participate in Iowa’s Healthiest State Walk

ATLANTIC, Iowa — September 22, 2026 — Healthy Cass County is inviting community members to join the annual Iowa’s Healthiest State Walk at noon in Atlantic City Park. Participants will gather at the park at 12:00 p.m. for a group photo before taking a walk around the park together.

The Iowa’s Healthiest State Walk is part of a statewide effort to encourage Iowans to make physical activity, connection, and healthy habits a part of everyday life. The event highlights that being active does not have to be complicated or require a gym—taking a walk with friends or co-workers is a simple way to get moving and connect with others.

“Walking is something almost everyone can incorporate into their day, and it’s even better when we do it together,” said Grace McAfee, Community Wellness Coordinator. “We hope this walk encourages people to take a break, get outside, connect with others and make movement part of their everyday routine.”

Community members who cannot attend the walk in Atlantic are encouraged to participate wherever they are. Individuals can walk around their own community, visit a local lake or trail, walk around their neighborhood, or simply take a stroll down the block during their lunch break.

Participants are encouraged to take a photo during their walk and share it on social media by tagging Healthy Cass County and Iowa’s Healthiest State Initiative
