(Atlantic, IA) – Clean-up efforts are underway across Cass County following severe storms that occurred this morning. As of 8:15-a.m., power was still out in parts of Atlantic, including at the Cass County Communications Center, which was running on emergency generators. Cass County Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Kennon was checking on damage across the county this morning.
He advises no travel in the area unless you have to, until the roads and streets are cleared of debris. Kennon says in addition to the damage in Atlantic, other areas of southwest Iowa were hit by the storms.
Kennon said he’s not heard of any injuries, but there was damage to some roads in southwest Iowa. (Photo’s below are from the Atlantic Parks & Rec Department and were taken at Sunnyside Park, 6/11/26)
