(Atlantic, IA) – Officials with the non-profit ARISE (Atlantic Rock Island Society Enterprise) organization will hold a garage sale/fundraiser on May 1st, from Noon until 6-p.m., and May 2nd, from 8-a.m. until Noon. The sale will be held at the Armory -also known as the American Legion Memorial Building -(201 Poplar St.), in Atlantic.
Donations to the garage sale can be dropped off at the Armory on April 28, 29, or 30 from 2-6 pm. No mattresses, please. As mentioned, the event is a fundraiser for ARISE. Atlantic Rock Island Society Enterprise (ARISE) a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, owns the Rock Island Depot and the American Legion Memorial Building in Atlantic, Iowa.

The Rock Island Railroad Depot, is a National Historic Site and a restoration project completed in 2002. It currently serves as the Chamber of Commerce for the city of Atlantic. It offers the Rowe Conference Center for public rental.
The American Legion Memorial Building, is a National Historic Site and a former National Guard armory for Atlantic and the surrounding area. It is home to a Memorial Hall, Military Museum, Military Library, Atlantic History Center, and Flag Room. All are available to the community. The Memorial Hall may be rented for events.
The event on May 1st and 2nd is open to the public, and there is no cost to enter/attend.
