(Adair, IA) – A joint, monthly meeting of the Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center Community School District Boards of Education will take place in the AC/GC Junior High Library, beginning at 7-p.m. on Wednesday, April 17th. The regular meeting will be preceded by a Public Hearing on the 2026-27 Certified Budget.
In the regular meeting that follows, the Adair-Casey Board will act on approving a Contract Recommendation for Tyler Merical – Physical Education. The Guthrie Center Board will act on approving an Open Enrollment-Out, and the resignations of: Daniel Woods – Social Studies Teach/WR/XC Coach; and Jess Fridley – Speech Coach. They will also act on Contract Recommendations for: Eric West – Business Teacher; Kellie Lewis – Counselor, and Joe Bennett – Custodian.
Both Boards will discuss: Reorganization Incentives and Consolidation, as well as the Denovo Study/Construction Updates and Needs. Action items for both Board to approve include:
- The 2025-26 Adjusted School Calendar, and action on a motion to approve the last day of school as Friday, May 22nd, 2026, with teachers making up two workdays after the Memorial Day Weekend.
- Approval of the 2026-27 Certified Budget.
- Approval of their respective Class of 2026 Graduating Seniors (pending completion of all graduation requirements) as presented.
Separately, the Adair-Casey Board will act on approving Code Joy Grant Purchases, which includes a recommendation to approve $43,637.80 in bills that will be reimbursed with grant money that was already approved. The grant is for K-12 Computer Science. And, they will act on the purchase of twinned console HVAC pumps for the Junior High building.
The Guthrie Center Board will act on approving: Activity Cooperative Sharing Agreements; An ISL (Instructional Support Levy) Resolution to consider. The ISL provides additional funding to a school district and may be imposed for a period of up to10-years if approved through a referendum, or up to five-years through board resolution. A district’s budget may be increased by up to 10% of the district’s regular program cost, throught the ISL. Their action includes a hearing date. The G-C Board will also act on the High School Master Schedule; A 2027 Senior Trip to Washington, D-C, and, a D7 Services Storm Water bill.
