A group formed three years ago to support 13 museums in the Iowa Great Lakes area is getting another 100-thousand dollar donation for the project. Mary Dreier (DRY-er) is on the Lakes Area Museum Alliance board of directors.
That includes attendance at the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum in Arnolds Park and the Pearson Lakes Art Center in Okoboji as well as the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association Hall of Fame and Museum. The alliance made a presentation about its work last week during the Iowa Museum Association conference in Ames.
In 2023, the non-profit “Spirit of Okoboji” provided the seed money to start the alliance. The latest 100-thousand dollar donation comes from the same non-profit and the Kinnetz (KIHN-ehtz) Family Foundation. The foundation and the Spirit of Okoboji are managed by Tim Kinnetz, who founded the Milford-based GrapeTree Medical Staffing. The company is used by nursing homes as well as memory care and assisted living facilities to fill openings for nurses and other health care workers.
