(Atlantic, IA) – The driver of a pickup truck that collided head-on with a semi this (Friday) afternoon in Atlantic, was transported to the Cass County Hospital and then flown by helicopter to another hospital.
According to Cass County Sheriff’s Deputy Kyle Quist, the accident happened at around 2:50-p.m, when the pickup, a 2022 Ford Maverick, pulled away from a stop sign near Curtis Welding and Fabrication at 1507 W. 2nd Street (In the Highland Addition), and in front of the semi, which was coming into Atlantic. No names have been released.
The driver of the semi tried to avoid the collision, and in doing so resulted in the semi ramped across the ditch into the parking lot of the welding business. A guy-wire sustained a bit of damage during the accident.
Atlantic Fire & Rescue and Cass EMS along with Atlantic Police and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the scene.
