(Cedar Falls, IA) – A head-on collision between two SUV’s in northeast Iowa’s Black Hawk County, Sunday, left the driver of one of the vehicles dead, the other injured. The Iowa State Patrol report the crash happened at around 7:34-p.m. on Highway 20 eastbound, on the southwest side of Cedar Falls.
The Patrol says a 2017 Nissan Rogue was traveling east on Highway 20 just west of the Avenue of the Saints, when for reasons unknown, it crossed the center line of the highway ans struck a westbound 2025 Chevy Equinox. The driver of the Chevy, 23-year-old Abby Hamann, of Grundy Center, was injured in the crash.
Both drivers – who were wearing their seat belts – were transported to MercyOne Hospital in Waterloo, where the driver of the Nissan died from their injuries. That person’s name was being withheld by authorities, pending notification of family.
The crash remained under investigation.
