(Lenox, IA) – The body of a fisherman who went under the water at Wilson Lake near Lenox, was recovered Friday afternoon (June 12, 2026). The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office reports just before 3-p.m., Friday, they received a 911 call someone who saw the man disappear under water.
Lenox Fire, Taylor County Ambulance, and the Midwest Dive Team were dispatched. At approximately 3:16 pm members of the Lenox Fire Department removed a male from the water. Lifesaving measures were given but he was declared deceased at 3:56.
The 49 year old Lenox man was transported to the state medical examiner’s office in Ankeny for autopsy. His name was being withheld pending notification of family.
