Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart says voters are going to be looking for results from the candidates they elected on Tuesday. Hart held a virtual news conference late this (Wednesday) morning.
Hart says governing is now the priority for Democrats.
Hart was Democrat Fred Hubble’s lieutenant governor running mate in 2018 when Hubble lost the governor’s race to Kim Reynolds by less than three percent. Hart says this year’s midterm election felt a lot different.
Iowa Republican Party Chair Jeff Kaufmann says last night’s losses in top-of-the-ticket races are disappointing, but he sees one positive outcome.
Republicans lost 11 seats in the Iowa House, but still retain majority control, and Republicans will hold 32 of the 50 seats in the Iowa Senate next year.
Kaufmann made his comments late last (Tuesday) night at the Iowa G-O-P’s Election Night headquarters in Des Moines.
