Zach Lahn (like “LANE”), the Republican candidate for governor, says the Iowa Farm Bureau and the Iowa Association of Business and Industry did not endorse him this year because of his views on Iowa’s water quality, high cancer rates and economic development.
Lahn spoke this (Tuesday) morning at a forum organized by the Greater Des Moines Partnership, which represents 25 chambers of commerce, including groups in Grinnell, Newton, Marshalltown and Knoxville.
Lahn supports the nearly one-point-four BILLION dollars in state incentives state officials are offering a company in India that plans to build a steel plant in southeast Iowa because he says it’s a transformational project, but Lahn says if he’s elected governor, he’d ask legislators to focus future state tax incentives Iowa companies that are expanding, especially companies that have been owned by the same family for generations.
Lahn, though, says growing Iowa’s population and attracting expanding businesses hinges on lowering Iowa’s cancer rates.
K-T-I-V television in Sioux City will be hosting Lahn and Rob Sand, the Democratic candidate for governor, in a debate tomorrow (Wednesday) night. Tonight (Tuesday) W-H-O T-V in Des Moines will host the second and final debate between U-S Senate candidates Ashley Hinson, a Republican, and Democrat Josh Turek.
