Iowa National Guard Soldiers Continue to Return from Operation Inherent Resolve

JOINT FORCE HEADQUARTERS – DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa National Guard has announced that an additional 140 Soldiers assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division are now safely back in the United States following their deployment in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

The Soldiers served alongside coalition and regional partners in the Middle East, contributing to ongoing efforts to reduce the capabilities of ISIS in Iraq and Syria and promote regional stability. Their return is part of a continued phased redeployment based on mission requirements, personnel needs, and transportation availability. Not all Soldiers return at the same time, and each phase of the redeployment ensures the mission is completed effectively while prioritizing the safe return of all personnel.

Details regarding a welcome home ceremony in Des Moines to honor these returning Soldiers are currently being coordinated, with a planned date expected next week. Additional information will be released once finalized.

Approximately 200 Iowa National Guard Soldiers remain deployed in the Middle East supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.
