Iowa National Guard Invites Public to America250 Kickoff to Summer Celebration at Camp Dodge

JOINT FORCE HEADQUARTERS – DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa National Guard invites the public to join in an exciting evening of music, military tradition, and community connection during the America 250 Kickoff to Summer Celebration happening this afternoon at Camp Dodge in Johnston.

The event begins at 4 p.m. with a special military ceremony recognizing and honoring distinguished Service Members and civilians with the Iowa National Guard. In addition, community and military leaders will share remarks highlighting the rich and lasting connection between the Iowa National Guard, Camp Dodge and the Johnston community as part of the ongoing America250 celebration.

Guests will have the opportunity to explore military vehicles on display, including a howitzer artillery piece, while enjoying food trucks, family-friendly activities, and an evening celebrating service, community and country. LIVE music will begin at 5 p.m. as the event transitions into the kickoff of the Iowa National Guard’s 2026 Summer Concert Series featuring Standing Hampton.

The official Summer Concert Series takes place Thursdays in June beginning June 4th featuring the 34th Army Band’s rock band and will continue throughout the summer from 7-9 p.m. Community members from across Iowa are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, picnic baskets, coolers, family, and friends to enjoy a relaxing summer evening filled with patriotic spirit and entertainment.
