Iowa DOT asks for input on the planned bridge replacement on the U.S. 59 bridge over U.S. 34 in Mills County

AMES, Iowa – July 21, 2026 – The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) is asking for public input with regard to the planned bridge replacement on the U.S. 59 bridge over U.S. 34 in Mills County near Emerson. Construction is scheduled for 2028. Traffic will be maintained on the existing bridge during construction. The new bridge will be built just west of the existing bridge.
