Republican Congresswoman Ashley Hinson says if she’s elected to the U-S Senate she will vote to make the recent tax breaks for Social Security benefits, overtime pay and tip income permanent and seek solutions to the country’s housing crisis.
Hinson is running against Democrat Josh Turek and Libertarian Thomas Laehn (like “LANE”). With a week to go before Election Day, Hinson is like many candidates, making a direct get-out-the-vote appeal to supporters.
Hinson is also using part of her speeches on the campaign trail to address ads running against her.
Hinson says after she was elected to the U-S House in 2020, she and her husband sold all the public stock they owned and her husband sold his insurance business.
Hinson made her comments about campaign ads in Indianola last Monday, just as she did during her speech at President Trump’s rally in Sioux City last Thursday. On Friday, she campaigned with U-S Senate Majority Leader John Thune (THOON) in northwest Iowa. And Thune delivered the keynote speech at a Siouxland Chamber of Commerce event in Sioux City.
Thune says it makes getting legislation across the finish line more difficult.
Thune said. Thune suggests social media is inflaming the situation. Thune says he spends a lot of time putting out fires that you can’t really prepare for.
Thune has been the majority leader in the U-S Senate for the past 21 months.
