Hinson discusses ongoing action in Iran

(Radio Iowa) – Iowa Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, a Republican from Marion, was asked today (Thursday) if it is time for Congress to vote on any operations in Iran since the ceasefire has ended. Hinson says she wants to see the action ended as soon as possible, and says it’s about safety in the long term.

“I would echo what the president said, that Iran cannot be trusted. And I’m glad he has that mindset going into these next steps that we are taking. We need to finish the job and ensure that Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons and continue to threaten American lives,” Hinson says.

Hinson says she wants to know more about what is happening. “I will say that I know it’s a dynamic situation. I look forward to getting a more detailed briefing on the path forward. But again, whatever path forward, whatever deal, however this resolves, it must include ensuring that Iran does not have access to a nuclear weapon,” she says.

Hinson made her comments during her weekly conference call with reporters. She is running for the open U-S Senate seat.
