Harrison County man killed in a Pott. County crash Monday afternoon

(Council Bluffs, IA) – One person died and another was injured when a semi tractor-trailer collided with a pickup truck Monday afternoon, in Pottawattamie County. The accident happened on northbound Interstate 29 near mile marker 57.5 (or, 25th Street), at around 4:24-pm.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2014 Volvo semi was traveling northbound, and for reasons unknown, a 2020 Dodge RAM pickup was stationary on the traveled portion of the Interstate. The semi, driven by a 27-year-old from Maineville, OH, collided with the pickup, resulting in the death of the pickup’s driver, 60-year-old Donald G. Marks, of Missouri Valley.

A 26-year-old passenger in the semi – who was from Maineville, OH – suffered minor injuries in the crash, and transported by Council Bluffs Fire/Rescue to CHI Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs. The driver of the semi was not hurt. The road was closed for several hours following the crash.
