Guthrie County Attorney resigns; Meeting to make an appointment set for May 26th

(Guthrie Center, IA) — The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors, during their regular meeting Tuesday (May 19th), announced the resignation of County Attorney Dana Minteer, effective May 31st. It’s not clear why she is resigning. The Board agreed – by a vote of 4-to 1- to fill the Attorney’s position by appointment, during their meeting next Tuesday.

Supervisor Mike Dickson was the lone nay vote, saying he would rather wait until after the primary election June 2nd. Two Republicans are running for County Attorney in Guthrie County Primary. There are no Democratic candidates.

The winner in the GOP Primary race between the current Assistant County Attorney Charles Abel, and Joel Baxter, will run unopposed for the job during the November General Election
