Fatal accident in Pottawattamie County Wednesday morning

(Loveland, IA) – A single-vehicle accident Wednesday morning in Pottawattamie County claimed the life of a man from Shelby County. The Iowa State Patrol reports the accident happened at around 8:10-a.m. on Interstate 880.

The Patrol says a 2008 GMC Acadia driven by 31-year-old Dillion Michael Wood, of Harlan, was traveling westbound on I-880 near the 9.6-mile marker, when the SUV, for reasons unknown, left the traveled portion of the road. When the vehicle crashed into the north ditch, Wood – who was not wearing a seat belt -was ejected and died at the scene.

He was transported from the crash site to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
