Exira-EHK School Board receives Athletics Update; Approves contracts & Esports program

(Elk Horn, IA) – The Exira-EHK School District’s Board of Education held a regular monthly meeting Wednesday evening. During their session, the Board – according to the meeting minutes – received an update from Athletics Director Tom Petersen, with regard to summer sports and an outlook for fall coaching needs. He told the Boared he would like to have a community meeting the week of July 6th, to talk about the athletics program.

On a related sports note, the Exira-EHK School Board approved Spartans Esports, a program offering official extracurricular and coed activity for high school students. The program runs alongside the school’s traditional athletic offerings, utilizing gaming to build teamwork, strategic thinking, and digital citizenship.

The Board approved also: the Edmentum online curriculum; a $200 raise for all supplemental contracts; a THRIVE 28E Agreement; An AEA Agreement; FY27 property and auto insurance; A fuel bid from Agriland FS, and the purchase of a 2007 Chevy Traverse from Bob Brown Chevrolet.

The Exira-EHK Board tabled action of playground renovation bids to their July meeting. They approved hiring the following individuals: Pamela Parker – Food Service, and Jackson Radcliff – Football Coach. And, they approved the resignations of: Kindra Anthofer – Kitchen; Tyson Partridge – Football (Amended).
