(Creston, IA) – Creston Police Chief Cameron Hale reports the CPD obtained six automated external defibrillators (AEDs) through funding provided by the Helmsley Charitable Trust.
The new AEDs have been assigned to the department’s patrol vehicles and are now being placed into service throughout the community. Having an AED readily available in each patrol vehicle will allow officers to quickly access lifesaving equipment and begin providing emergency care while fire and emergency medical personnel are responding.
Narcan has also been placed with each AED, further equipping officers to assist individuals experiencing a suspected opioid overdose.
Placing this equipment in patrol vehicles strengthens the department’s emergency response capabilities and increases access to critical lifesaving resources throughout the community. This initiative is part of the Creston Police Department’s continued effort to better serve the community and make proactive, positive progress in its policing and public safety services.
