Council Bluffs home destroyed in a fire & explosion Saturday morning

(Council Bluffs, IA)- Officials with the Council Bluffs Fire Department say no injuries were reported, but a residence was destroyed in a fire and explosion early late Friday night into early this (Saturday) morning. Firefighters were dispatched at around 11:56-p.m., Friday to the area of 381 Lincoln Avenue. As the first crews arrived, they found a fully engulfed structure at 438 Lincoln Avenue, with fireworks going off.

Due to the extent of the fire, crews deployed a defensive attack against the flames. The home’s resident had escaped without injury. Authorities say the house had a significant amount of fireworks in it, causing loud explosions that could be heard and scene for blocks around the residence. Debris was also observed scattered throughout the area.

City crews were called to the scene to assist in the cleanup. The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information related to the fire, is asked to contact Council Bluffs Fire Investigator Dan Roberts, at droberts@councilbluffs-ia.gov.
