(Guthrie Center, IA) – If your summer plans include fishing, camping, floating the river, or heading out to Nation’s Bridge Park in Guthrie County, you’ll want to plan ahead this year.
Guthrie County officials have announced that construction work on the roadway near Nation’s Bridge is expected to begin later this month or in early June, weather permitting. Once work begins, the road will be CLOSED to through traffic for the duration of the project, with the closure expected to remain in place through mid to late summer.
JUNE ACCESS TO NATION’S BRIDGE PARK: Visitors should approach from the NORTH using Panora, Monteith Road, or County Road F59 / 280th Road.

JULY ACCESS TO NATION’S BRIDGE PARK: Visitors and campers should approach from the SOUTH via Stuart.
Property owners will still have access to private driveways and lanes
Nation’s Bridge Park WILL remain open during the project
Official detour routes will be posted for travelers
The project will include:
- Road widening for safer traffic flow
- Shoulder and centerline rumble strips
- A stronger road surface
- A smoother driving experience overall
