Connections Area Agency on Aging Announces Mind Over Matter Program During National Women’s Health Week

Council Bluffs, Iowa — In recognition of National Women’s Health Week, Connections Area Agency on Aging is proud to announce the upcoming offering of Mind Over Matter: Healthy Bowels, Healthy Bladder, an evidence-based health and wellness program designed to help women improve bladder and bowel health and overall quality of life.

Bladder and bowel control issues affect millions of women across the country, yet these concerns are often not openly discussed. More than half of women age 50 and older experience bladder or bowel leakage at some point. While common, these symptoms are not simply a normal part of aging and can often be improved with education, lifestyle strategies, and exercise.

Mind Over Matter is a free three-session workshop created specifically for women. The program provides participants with practical tools and techniques to better manage bladder and bowel health in a supportive, welcoming, and confidential setting. Sessions include educational information, group discussion, behavior and lifestyle strategies, and simple exercises participants can practice at home.

Scientific studies have shown that women who complete the workshop frequently experience reduced symptoms, improved confidence, and a better quality of life. The program is beneficial both for women currently experiencing symptoms and for those interested in preventative health and wellness.

The workshop series will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on the following dates:

• June 2
• June 16
• June 30

All sessions will take place in the Board Room at All Care Health Center in Council Bluffs.
