Child flown from Stuart to a Des Moines hospital following an incident at a pond, Tue. afternoon

(Stuart, IA) – Officials with the Stuart Police Department report a child was flown from the scene of a rural pond Tuesday afternoon to a hospital in Des Moines. Authorities say the incident occurred at around 4:35-p.m., in the 600 block of South Adair Street, south of Stuart, where a 2-year-old child was reported to be unresponsive.

Officers with the Stuart Police Department and personnel from Stuart Rescue responded and arrived within minutes of the 911 call. They were subsequently assisted by the Stuart Fire Department, the Iowa State Patrol, and additional emergency responders. Life-saving measures were immediately initiated by first responders. The child was subsequently transported by air ambulance to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines for further medical treatment. No information regarding the child’s current condition is available at this time.

The incident remains under investigation. No additional information is being released at this time out of respect for the family and the ongoing investigation.
