(Greenfield, IA) – Adair County Election Deputy Nathan Reed reports the next scheduled election for which candidates can file nomination papers, is for the November 3, 2026, General Election.
Candidacy paperwork now being accepted for positions on the General Election ballot include the non-partisan offices of Soil & Water Conservation Board, County Ag Extension Board, Hospital Trustees, and the partisan office of County Auditor, due to a vacancy occurring after the Primary Election.
Candidacy paperwork can be turned in anytime until 5:00 pm on August 26th. Party Affiliated candidates wanting to file Candidacy Papers for Auditor will need to be nominated by Party Convention and will not require petition signatures but will need to turn in an Affidavit of Candidacy.
The filing period for these offices is now – August 26, 2026 by 5:00 p.m. The first date to submit a request for a mailed absentee ballot is August 25, 2026 and the last day to request a mailed absentee ballot is October 19, 2026 by 5 p.m.
