(Guthrie Center, IA) – A building in Guthrie Center was damaged Friday evening, when it was hit by a trailer that became unhitched from a pickup truck. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office says the 1998 Shorelander trailer was being pulled by a 2000 Chevy pickup driven by 39-year-old Rodney Tatro, of Cedar Rapids, when the trailer became unhooked.
The trailer struck an overhead door for a building owned by a person from Panora, and located near the intersection of State and North 1st Streets, in Guthrie Center. The accident happened at around 5:30-p.m. as the pickup and trailer were traveling east on State Street.

Damage from the accident amounted to an estimated $2,500 altogether. The Sheriff’s Office says Tatro admitted to not having the trailer’s safety chain hooked-up to the pickup truck, due to the chain being too short. No citations were issued.
