(Floyd County, IA) – A man on a bicycle was seriously injured late Monday morning south of Charles City, when he was hit by a pickup truck. The Iowa State Patrol reports 77-year-old Robert Joseph Krueger, of Charles City, was traveling east on 220th Street near Walnut Avenue, when his bicycle was struck by an eastbound 2018 Ford F-150 pickup. The driver of the pickup, 79-year-old Robert Leon Mehmen, of Charles City was not hurt. The accident happened at around 11:12 a.m.
The Patrol says Krueger was transported to MercyOne Hospital in Mason City by helicopter. The crash remained under investigation.
