IOWA COUNTY, Iowa – A man from Amana and a teenager from North Liberty were killed in a crash in eastern Iowa’s Iowa County just before 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The Iowa State Patrol, late Friday, identified the accident victims as 33-year-old Colten Havel and 14-year-old Sawyer Havel.
According to Iowa State Patrol, a Kenworth construction vehicle was headed south on Highway 151 when a Ford Escape headed westbound on 110th Street, and driven by Colten Havel, failed to stop at a stop sign and the two vehicles collided. Both vehicles came to rest in the southwest ditch.
Both of the occupants of the SUV were wearing their seat belts. The driver of the Kenworth, 41-year-old Roger Lindsey, of Marengo, was not injured.
The intersection was closed for nearly four hours as crews responded to the scene.
