(Carroll, IA) – Authorities in Carroll County report an accident late Friday morning (July 24th south of Aracia, has claimed the life of a man from Adair County. The single-vehicle rollover accident occurred at around 11:16 a.m.. The sheriff’s office says 67-year-old Randy Merritt Caviness, of Greenfield, was driving a 2016 GMC Sierra northbound on Delta Avenue near the intersection of 240th Street, when the SUV drifted into the southbound lane before it struck an embankment.
The impact caused the vehicle to go airborne and into the west ditch, where it rolled over and came to rest on its wheels, approximately 100-yards from the point of impact.
Carroll County Emergency Medical Services rendered aid to Caviness, but he died at the scene.
