Ames Police Investigating Series of Vandalism to Vehicles

(Ames, IA) – Officials with the Ames Police Department say they has taken several reports of vandalism over the past few weeks where spray paint was used on vehicles. The vehicles were spray-painted with swastikas and racial slurs. The incidents appear to be random. In each case, the vehicles were parked in poorly lit areas and do not appear to be targeted at the owners.

Reports have been taken from residents in the 100 block of Crystal Street, the 200 and 300 blocks of South 5th Street, the 1600 block of South Kellogg Avenue, and the 2800 block of Grand Avenue. The most recent cases were yesterday.

While the Ames Police Department continues to investigate these incidents, they ask the public to be on the lookout for suspicious activity and to please report it.
