(Greenfield, IA) – The Adair County Board of Supervisors, during their regular weekly meeting today (Wednesday), approved a bid for a grandstand electrical project on the Adair County Fairgrounds. The low bid that was approved was Marquardt Electric, LLC, in Nodaway, at $26,277.74. The only other bid received was from Wiremann Electric, in Greenfield, and $42,791.96.
The Board approved also, a request from the All Iowa Republican Women’s Club, for a reading of the Declaration of Independence on the courthouse grounds, on June 19th. Heather Boustead spoke via telephone with regard to the request and related information.
The event will be held rain or shine. The Adair County Supervisors approved the resignation of a Veterans Affairs Department Assistant, and to begin the process to hire a replacement.
In other business, the Board passed a Resolution awarding a contract to Gus Construction for the W26 RCB (Reinforced Concrete Box) Culvert project, in the amount of $171,260.60, which County Engineer Nick Kauffman said was 14.9-percent above the engineer’s estimate.
They also authorized the signing of the Final Voucher for the N11 Lincoln Bridge project, by Board Chair Jerry Walker, and they approved the hiring of a Summer intern for the Secondary Roads Department. It’s the same intern they’ve had for the past couple of years.
County Engineer Nick Kauffman updated the Supervisors on Secondary Roads Department maintenance and activities. And, the Supervisors continued previous discussions, with regard to a Mental Health Advocate and County Revenue.
